hello goodbye, hello goodbye

So, our time of take off has arrived! And Saturday English time we will land, confused and jetlagged with various flight related injuries. Can't wait. I don't think we've ever been so excited about Christmas, and for Jon, that's saying something.

I wanted to make a list to clear things up in my head, so here it is.

Goodbye blueberry pancakes at the black cat bakery
walks around the lanterns at the Lacma
goodbye to the dance studio Swerve, to amongst others, Jessies bootcamps(OUCH), I will miss hating you, Amandas gym sessions, accompanied by her tastefully loaded Ipod
goodbye to the up market shopping centre that is the Grove, in all its weird and wonderful expensiveness, we will miss the not shopping with you
goodbye SUNshine.
goodbye big American weekend adventures in our big car..
goodbye lovely friends Charlotte and Amy. (until next time!)

goodbye free gym and free swimming pool, although it has been way to cold to actually swim and most of the gyms' various machines has mysteriously disappeared one by one.

Hello seasons. (even though most of the time it means rain)
Hello being able to call my mum up without the logistics of time differences
hello family, and Christmas!
hello snow, although I'll be cursing your name pretty soon
hello little weekend adventures in our little car
heeeelloo walking places. How my feet have missed you.
hello to the busyness and variety of London
last and most importantly, hello friends,
and hello to the new people they have given birth to!

I met a an interesting, albeit a little crazy (i think they go hand in hand) older lady once in a cafe in Battersea, who told me quite a few of her radical/insane/conservative views. I tried forgetting most of it, though one thing stuck with me, and that was her description of London. She said cities around the world have their charm 'but, I like a bit of crumble'.

(I like that, although on the other hand if she really meant say, apple crumble, this loses all its poetic value and I look like a tit.)

  3. I've had a great time reading the blog too! Happy New Year to the two of you.

By the way, even if the old lady meant apple crumble, there's poetry to be found. I believe that it is impossible to be sad and eat apple crumble at the same time.
